Terracotta Phalarope

"Terracotta Phalarope", oil on canvas, 18x24 in. For sale on Etsy.
Fun fact: Phalaropes are one of the few bird species with females that are more brightly colored than the males. The females pursue the males during breeding season and fight for their territories. One female mates with multiple males, and the males sit on the nests to hatch and raise the young.

The two vases are based on an actual pair of vases that my husband and I received as wedding gifts. The details of the vases are deliberately blurred and faded. The tweet about ceramics at the bottom of the painting is real. I'm not sure if the forum that the Twitter user mentions is real or not. I'll leave that for folks to find out on Google, if they want to.
