l is for loire: Florentijn Hofman

"Rubber Duck", 2007, 105x85 feet. By Florentijn Hofman.
I'm usually not a big fan of sculptures that are just giant versions of things. (I mean by professionals, not vernacular World's Biggest X!-type sculptures. The amateur stuff is usually awesome.) It's really hard to hate a giant rubber duckie, though. It's probably kind of like Jeff Koons' "Puppy". The "Aww, so cute!" factor obliterates all rational thought. This piece was part of the Loire Estuary 2007 exhibition.
